Lavi Design Studio was founded by Ivan and Vânia Alentijev, a couple whose journey took them across the world, embracing new experiences and diverse careers. Ivan, a mechanical engineer, left behind a traditional career to explore life in various fields. During this adventure, he met his wife, Vânia, a talented Portuguese artist. Together, they settled in Lisbon and started a real estate business, building a life they were proud of.

In 2020, the pandemic disrupted everything. With the real estate market coming to a halt, Ivan saw an opportunity to pivot. Recognizing a shortage of gym equipment, he began crafting handmade wooden pieces in their backyard. What started as a small project soon blossomed into a thriving business. With Ivan’s engineering background and Vânia’s artistic vision, they quickly turned this passion into something bigger, delivering unique pieces across Portugal.

In 2021, they made a life-changing decision: they sold their home in Lisbon and moved to the countryside to build their first proper woodshop. This new space allowed them to expand into custom furniture, blending functionality with artistry. Reinvesting into the business, they focused on creating high-quality, one-of-a-kind pieces that reflected both their craftsmanship and vision.

By 2023, Lavi Design Studio reached its creative peak, with the focus shifting entirely to original, custom designs. Their commitment to innovation and quality earned the trust of clients who sought truly unique furniture. In 2025, they decided to return to Serbia, seeking new opportunities for both personal and professional growth.

The name Lavi actually holds deep personal meaning—it represents the initials of their family: L for Lucas (their son), A for Alice (their daughter), V for Vânia (the mother), and I for Ivan (the father).
